Solving linear modular equations, Chinese Remainder Theorem, Primitive roots, solving modular quadratic equations. Introduction to group theory: motivation, definitions and basic properties. Finite cyclic groups, permutation groups, isomorphisms, Lagrange’s Theorem. PREREQ: MATH 189 and COREQ MATH 287.
